You are welcome to join us for the first Tax-seminar at CMI in 2023. Speaker: Dr Kristine Sævold will give a presentation on «Legacies of the British Empire: Tax havens and ‘Loophole Capitalism’» based on findings from her PhD-thesis “Tax Havens of the British Empire: Development, Policy Responses and Decolonization”. The seminar will take place on Tuesday 28 February (14:00 – 15:00 CET) at the Chr. Michelsen Institute in Bergen.

Sævold’s research is motivated by an interest in the international political economy of tax havens and offshore financial centres and their historical origin. This includes the study of capitalism and institutional building from the late 19th century until the present with an emphasis on post-war capitalist economies.

Tax seminars

In-person seminars featuring ongoing research and initiatives to strengthen domestic revenue mobilization. 

The seminars take place at Chr. Michelsen Institute (Jekteviksbakken 31 in Bergen), and are open to anyone.
